President's Address

3 December 06

Dear Archers,

Greetings and I hope all of you are enjoying the festive period and vacation. Don't forget to sign up for the AAS Outdoor Archery Championship that will be held over the period 29, 30 and 31 December 2006. Closing date is 15 December 2006.

NTS

I understand that the last tournament of 2006 will also be used by AAS to initiate the last trial to enable archers to qualify for the Under 25 Squad, as well as for the Under 13, 17 and 19 Squads. Remember non squad archers, if you want to be a member of the National Squads, you must meet the minimum qualifying scores as set against the various categories. Those who have already qualified need not re qualify.

The Open Category already had at least two trials so no more trials are being planned, at least for 2006.

SEA Games Team Selection (SEAT)

The SEA Games Team selection will be held over three selection periods. They are

All squad members are eligible to compete and earn points at the various selection trials. Based on the final results achieved, 6 archers from each category will be chosen to form the SEAT. These archers will then train with the Head Coach (other squad members will continue to train with their coaches) on a regular basis and compete for overseas competitions marked specially for them only. Depending on the selected oversea competition and budget, AAS will decide the number of archers to be sent for each competition.

So, archers, train hard and do your best. And don't forget that you must sign up for the competition as a participant with a member club or else you will not be allocated a target to shoot at. The organizer is very adamant on not taking in any entry after the closing date of 15 December 2006. Send your entries to Ali Awang early.
