President's Address

22 February 07

Hi all archers,

Sure rested well over the holidays. Hope you did too, though I know of some who still have that mahjong stare coming out of their eyeballs. Anyway, just to keep you guys updated:

Zhenghua National Archery Range

A tender was called and we had three written quotations and one verbal quote given at site. The lowest price offered was $38 per meter run.

After evaluating all the bids and discussing the matter with our advisors/overseers to ensure transparency, we have awarded the project to Wacon Construction & Trading Pte Ltd.

Once the fence is completed and the lines laid, the target boards and shelters will be consolidated at ZNAC. In all probability we will have our March 4th trial at the new range.

SEA Games Trial (2nd of 6)

Don’t forget to sign up by dropping me a short note to say that you are interested in participating. Once I have received the notification, you will be assigned a target to shoot at. Remember all SEA Games trials are full FITA, all day events. $5 will be charged to each participant to cover drinks, and packaged lunch. We will start with the longest distance (90m) and work our way down.

Assisting Coaches

As part of the plan to improve archery in Singapore, assisting coaches will be needed to assist the National Coach Choi in her coaching of the national archers. In this respect I would like to invite experienced archers and coaches (recurve and compound) to volunteer their services in this area. Utilising our local resources is the most logical and cost effective way to assist all the interested archers out there. Please drop me a note indicating your desire to help out and I will forward it to Coach Choi for her final decision.

Badges

If you have won or qualified for any FITA badges recently, do contact me by sending me your mailing address so that I can mail the badge to you or you can come by to FAAC to pick them up on this Sunday, 25 February 2007 from 9 am to 11 am.

Thanks for reading and keep your mails coming in with your suggestions and comments. Good shooting and good health.
