Dear archers, coaches and club officials,

I am pleased to inform you that the Archery Association of Singapore, in close collaboration with the Singapore Sports Council and with the support of her sponsors and well wishers, has designed a holistic High Performance Operational Plan for the period 2008-2010 to prepare our elite archers for the designated target competitions in this period and beyond.

Introduction of Development Squads for 2008

AAS would like to introduce the concept of development centers that will serve as the nurturing grounds for the future national archers. We are seeking the cooperation of at least three major archery clubs to set up these centers. The selection of potential development squad archers will be based tentatively on the annual National Inter School competition. Interested clubs are requested to initiate contact with the president for discussions.

National Archery Inter-Club League 2008

An inaugural National Inter-Club Archery League will be initiated in May 2008 to help ignite friendly inter-club competition. A series of four competitions incorporating indoor, outdoor, junior and open formats will be announced early next year. Clubs interested in hosting these events are requested to contact the president for future discussions.

AAS have worked hard to try to bridge the gap between our competitors and us. We believe that by rigorous selection, systematic and committed training, both technical and using sports medicine and sciences approaches coupled with proper competition exposure, Archery Singapore has the potential to do well in our target competitions.

We now seek your participation and cooperation.

Kind Regards,
Dr Wong Loong Tat
Ag. President, AAS
