AAS Judges Committee
Purpose
The main function of the Judges Committee (JC) is to deal with the interpretation of rules concerning judging at FITA-sanctioned tournaments and the governing of the judging activities in Singapore.
Objectives of the Judges Committee
- Organizing and implementing the education of new national judges so as to increase the number of national judges to serve at local tournaments.
- Development of a Continuing Judge Education (CJE) program which will bring the quality of our national judges to international standard. This will be accomplished through courses, case studies, judge duties, local seminars and international judge seminars.
- Make the JC a strong and credible organization.
- Ensure judges’ efforts and dedication are recognized and rewarded appropriately.
Other responsibilities of the Judges Committee
- Keep an up-to-date list of the judges in Singapore.
- Appointing judges for local competitions.
- Nomination of judges for continental and international seminars.
Guidelines
- The JC shall operate independently. It will still be part of AAS as a whole and all matters to be decided must be in congruence with the stand and direction taken by AAS.
- AAS officer bearers and executive committee shall be responsible for examining applications of candidates and the re-appointment of judges.
- AAS officer bearers and executive committee shall not interfere with the judges’ duties, assignment and decision. Decisions made by judges at competition can only be overruled by the jury of appeal of that event.
- Judge levies shall be decided and enforced by the AAS. These fees shall be collected by the CJ on duty and shall be used to pay the judges who performed judge duties at AAS-sanctioned events. The rate shall be approved by the AAS. Any surplus shall be kept and managed by the JC. This fund shall be used to defray future shortfalls and for the CJE program.
