Letter of Thanks for 2008

Dear Coaches, Archers and Friends,

THANK YOU TO ALL

I would like to wish you a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2009. Time flies, it’s been six months since I took over office in June 2008.

On behalf of Archery Association of Singapore, I would like to thank Mr Simon Ho and Mr Patrick Tan in recuperating the loss to profit in our account and also in retrieving the $12,000 successfully from IRAS for the overpaid taxes in FY07.

As for the committee members and coaches, you have put in endless efforts and precious time in organizing the successful Pesta Sukan 2008 and AAS Annual Shoot 2008, each competition had attracted more than 350 participants. Well done to the coaches too for securing 2 more primary and 2 more secondary schools in taking up archery as one of their CCA programs in 2009. My sincere thanks to all who have helped in the 20 awareness programs for schools and 10 Road Shows organized for the Grassroots organizations, Charity organizations, Ministries, and YOG Organizing Committee staff during the recent school holidays in November and December 2008.

In reference to overseas performance, Bravo to Mr George Loh and Ms Vanessa Loh who had made our country proud by winning a Silver and a Bronze medal in the South East Asia Championship held in Manila on December 2008. The National Team had been putting in a lot of effort in training too.

In terms of coaching and technique development, AAS will be organizing a Level 3 Coaching Course for senior coaches to upgrade themselves with better coaching and archery technical skills. The course will be conducted by Mr Kim Hyung Tak, president of FITA Coaching committee. He is the pioneer coach who trained the Koreans in winning the 4 prestigious gold medals during the 1984 Olympic. Mr Kim can converse well in English and Mandarin. The duration of the course is from 9/1/09 to 11/1/09 and it will be held at Potong Pasir CC.

Last but not the least, I would like to thanks our Advisor, Mr Michael Palmer, and Mr Ken Ang, our sports officer, and all staff of SSC and YOG who have given AAS, their strong support.

With our dedication and passion to Archery, I am sure we can work together and sail through this tough year of 2009.

Many thanks.

Sincerely Yours,
TANG CHANG POH
President
