Selection Policy for SEA Games 2009 and YOG 2010

The basis of selection will be based on points system adopted by AAS and meeting certain IKO scores for SEA games & meeting MQS for YOG as per FITA YOG 2010 Qualification System

  1. the cut off dates to compute the points will be 3rd week of July 2009 for SEA games and for YOG July 2010 or 1 month from whatever FITA set as final registration date, currently the entries deadline set by IOC is 15 July 2009.

  2. all points given will be based on the latest adopted version of the points system adopted by AAS

  3. Maximum 3 archers per weapon group will be chosen. With a 4th as reserved archer as strictly standby basis. All archers must have complete set of spare bow ready and tuned.

  4. In the event that the 3rd and 4th archers have the same points and have hit the same highest IKO scores, the selection committee will look back the past calendar year the number of IKO matches wins to decide the winner. For example, Archer A & B has the same 56 points and has hit highest IKO scores of 111. For the past 1 calendar year, in head to head IKO matches, archer A wins 9 out of 16 matches, so in this case archer A will be selected over archer B.

  5. In the event that the 3rd and 4th archers has the same points and have hit the same highest IKO scores and have same number of IKO match wins over the past calendar year, then AAS will organize a special IKO match ( 12 arrows) to determine the winner. Date and time to be determined by AAS. Failure to turn up will be considered that the archer has given up the chance.

  6. The selection committee reserve the right to select exceptionally outstanding archers who meet the above IKO scores or MQS and state the underlying reasons.

  7. For SEA games 2009

    Based on 2007 SEA games, the following are the IKO scores of the respective medalists, selected archers must have hit the lowest IKO average scores of the respective medalists in the past calendar year and obtained top 3 positions in the AAS points system

    RM have to hit 106
    Bronze medalist: 107, 103, 110 , IKO average is 106
    Silver medalist: 108, 105, 110 , IKO average is 107
    Gold Medalist : 112, 108, 110 , IKO average is 110
    RW have to hit 101
    Bronze medalist: 100, 105, 100 , IKO average is 101
    Silver medalist: 103, 107, 101 , IKO average is 103
    Gold Medalist : 102, 106, 107 , IKO average is 105
    CM have to hit 111
    Bronze medalist: 118, 113, 116 , IKO average is 115
    Silver medalist: 111, 110, 112 , IKO average is 111
    Gold Medalist : 111, 113, 115 , IKO average is 113
    CW have to hit 111
    Bronze medalist: 110, 110, 115 , IKO average is 111
    Silver medalist: 110, 112, 114 , IKO average is 112
    Gold Medalist : 114, 111, 116 , IKO average is 113

     

  8. For YOG 2010

    Among the archers who hits the MQS as stated below ( extracted from FITA YOG 2010 Qualification System). We will select the archer with the highest points and the archer with the second highest points as reserved archer on the standby.

    Men FITA round 1200(junior) or 1220 (cadet)
    70m round 600 (junior) or 610 (cadet)
    Women FITA round 1180 (junior) or 1200 (Cadet)
    70m round 590 (junior) or 600 (Cadet)

    The MQS must be achieved in the qualified period of 11th July 2009 (starting at the 2009 Youth World Championships) to 1 July 2010. Athletes that are shooting the cadet distances in 2008 can obtain the MQS in 2009 as a cadet or obtain the MQS in 2010 in the junior distances

     

  9. All NATT and YOG archers are deemed to be available for selection for SEA Games 2009 and YOG 2010. Any archers who have faced disciplinary action or in the midst of facing disciplinary action in the current calendar year will not be eligible for selection for these 2 competitions

  10. the selection committee consists of the following:

    Chairman of Selection Committee Mr Lim Chee Wee
    He is currently the head of High Performance in the AAS committee and a NROC Senior coach
    Member Mr. Gordon Thong
    He is currently a NROC senior coach in Archery Club of Singapore
    Member Ms Angie Ng
    She is currently a NROC coach in Ponggol South Archery Club

  12. After the results are announced via emails to all NATT and YOG archers, they have 3 working days to appeal to the Appeal Committee headed by chairman , Mr Chan Wai Meng. All appeals must be directed to Mr. Chan via wmchan@starhub.net.sg mobile 96958421. A “Selection Appeal Form” will be available at the website or from Mr. Lim Chee Wee and an appeal fees of $100 will be levied. This fee must be paid in cash to the AAS Treasurer and appeal fees will be refunded for successful appeals. A sample selection appeal form is below

  13. The appeal committee consists of the following:

    He is currently a NROC Senior coach in Apex Elite Club
    Member Mr. Leong Fai Keong
    He is a FITA judge
    Member Mr. Frankie Yat
    He is a NROC level 1 coach from Telok Blangah Archery Club
    Member Mr Ang Thiam Ser
    He is a judge from Sembawang Archery Club
    Member Mr. Patrick Leong
    He is a coach from Pasir Elias Archery Club

     

  14. No archers or affiliated club are to communicate anything with regards to the selection or appeal via the press, or other form of mass media (example blog, face book, MSN, public forum etc). Failure to comply will result the said archer or the parties involved to face severe disciplinary actions by AAS. For appeal cases, the appeal committee will reject the appeal and forfeit the $100 fee.

  15. This selection policy will be posted on the AAS website and emailed to all NATT and YOG archers

  16. AAS reserved the rights to make changes to any part of this policy as long as AAS announced the changes and effective date. AAS will ONLY make changes if circumstances are endorsed by SNOC / SSC.
